Betsy was joined today by video producer extraordinaire Dr. Normal (Mike Gebhardt), who detailed the many projects he’s up to to bring quality audio & video programming to Portland and beyond. He shares the early days of doing a weekly technology podcast from his basement with (Strange Love Live, 168 weekly episodes from November, 2007 to today), along with his early influences (Tom Snyder’s talk show stylings). He segues into sharing the work done to produce live on-site streaming coverage from local technology events like Webvisions, Open Source Bridge and Cyborg Camp to last year’s marathon charity telethon, 30 Hour Day.
According to Mike, there’s plenty of activity creating digital content & plenty of people watching — but no one’s quite figured out how to make money yet. But Mike’s one of the stalwart ones (with a day job) who just keeps plugging away; he’ll figure it out soon enough!
