Betsy was joined this week by ReadWriteWeb Co-Editor (and Portland resident) Marshall Kirkpatrick, who talks about his early-morning media-making habits — whether covering breaking news technology stories on ReadWriteWeb or chronicling the lives of chickens via iPhone video on YouTube. They also talked about the pros (staying in touch with your network) and cons (keeping up with the ever-changing privacy policy) of disruptive social media technologies like Facebook, Marshall’s original ‘funding stream’ at the Dairy Mart in Eugene, Oregon, and the average time-to-publication cycle of the usual RWW story (think minutes, not hours or days).
And since Marshall’s all about the breaking news, we announced the addition of the sixth ReadWriteWeb author (of 16) from Portland – Klint Finley:
klintron: So @marshallk announced on @redoingmedia that I’m joining the Read Write team as a blogger for Read Write Enterprise
What’s with all the Portland presence on ReadWriteWeb, anyway? The beer? The ability to say RWW has “more chickens per Tech Blogger than any other tech media site”? Who knows…but we’re grateful just the same!
Thanks again to Marshall for joining us, and be back next week at 1 pm when Betsy will be joined by yet another person redoing media here in Portland, Oregon…
