Fatboy RobertsBobby Roberts gave us the dirt about life at KUFO, including how he and Cort extended the Cort & Fatboy franchise into new territory (and without asking permission) with in-person events (Midnight Movie at the Bagdad tomorrow, anyone?) Along the way, they’ve created a community of listeners on the Cort & Fatboy site that transitioned nicely over to their M-F 10 am radio show on pdx.fm. In fact, Bobby says they’ve now moved well beyond what was possible solely on local terrestrial radio back in the day.

He talks about how he’s had to hustle in order to extend his visibility, how his self-deprecating behavior’s actually gotten him jobs via Twitter, why he believes Portland will never have a successful local terrestrial radio station, why we’ll be able to yell “KHAAAN!” at him this summer, and why being a geek pays off (even though there will never be a Geek: Remixed: 5).

Listen to the whole episode for yourself to see why Bobby’s one of the nicest, most genuine people around in the media business (according to Betsy and a host of others, anyway), won’t you? And even though Betsy didn’t grill Bobby about the dirt behind this upcoming Major Media Announcement, well — she’d suggest you tune in next Wednesday to the Cort & Fatboy show on pdx.fm for the news with the rest of the plebians.
