Guest Post from Cornelius Swart, ONN’s Project Lead

March 28, 2011

After last Thursday’s show, Cornelius Swart emailed me with his initial thoughts, which he’d then leave as a comment on the show post itself once ready. Instead, I convinced him to offer his clarifications up as a guest post instead so that it’d have more visibility to our readers here & the world beyond (plus [...]

Today’s show? It’s a mishmash of topics…

January 27, 2011

…and only YOU can help us focus!

So far, I’ve got more about the Godzilla vs. Mothra vs. David battles between movie studios, cable television network providers, and distribution platforms like Netflix and Hulu.

There’s my love for New York Times writer David Carr — in the news this week due to Page One’s debut at Sundance. The rest of mass media? Not so much loved these days, though.

And the lightning round of topics continues:

  • We have iPad apps, Part Two.
  • Yet another failed technology originally designed to make sign-ins “easier.”
  • My pissy experiences buying books online.

And a few other topics that might get suggested by the time the show goes live today at 2 pm.

Think we should nix something, downplay something, add something, eliminate something? You have 6 1/2 hours to say so. Starting….NOW.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

12/30 show: Gaming Networks as new Media Platform?

December 29, 2010

Yeah, I’m not quite sure I agree with that premise — I don’t play video games of any flavor and can’t see spending tons of time doing so. (Those of you in the corner? Pointing and laughing at the time I spend on Twitter? Shush, you…) But a recent email from my friend PAgent had [...]

What’s the 12/30 show about? 3 guesses…

December 28, 2010

The topic of this week’s show on 12/30? Well, I’m not ready to give it up just yet. (And no, we’re not going to regurgitate a ‘best of/worst of’ list, either. Don’t you already have plenty to choose from?) But for you impatient types? 2 hints: This week’s Special Guest? None other than Bobby “Fatboy” [...]

12/23 show preview: iTunes as media gatekeeper?

December 22, 2010

Listener Jeff sent me this email on 12/16 (do note the date – pre-Wikileaks app rejection. Jeff, are you psychic?) Some questions I was pondering… Since most people use iTunes to download and find podcast content, doesn’t that give Apple a lot of power in the “new” media of internet radio? What’s the risk that [...]

Help! Show topics needed!

December 16, 2010

The list of subjects for today’s show is a lean one…unless you help us, that is! I know I’ll have more to say on Wikileaks after all. (Yes, Aaron Hockley, I’m starting to care deeply about the entire situation, even while I reserve the right to dislike Assange’s hair, among other personal traits of his.) [...]

Questions we’ll be wrestling with on today’s Redoing Media show…

December 9, 2010

In no particular order: Why the NYTimes eliminated their social media editor position. Why Howard Stern is a complete pussy Why no one really cares about where you are (or if they do, you really don’t want to know them…) Why Betsy hasn’t been interested in the Wikileaks furor Why Comcast will continue to fuck [...]
